It was Harold's wish to die at home in the arms of his best friend, his wife Pat. Under very difficult medical circumstances Pat kept true to her promise and allowed Harold to die with dignity and peace in their home. Her absolute committment and dediction to her husband was touching and inspiring. Our family thanks her for loving Harold so well and for honouring his wishes despite the extreme demands his care placed on her. Harold was a unique and complex man and his booming laugh and wise counsel will be missed by all of us. My husband, Michael is Harold's second born son and he inherited many wonderful qualities from his dad including a wicked understanding of contruction and carpentry. There were few projects started in our home without first consulting Harold. He also inherited his deep love and appreciation for nature; for things which were pure and simple. I once asked Harold if he felt lonely when he lived on his farm for so many years by himself and prior to meeting Pat. He answered that he never once felt alone; he had the sky, the sunshine, the birds and the trees. I take comfort knowing he's returned to same!
