Obituary for Florence Gill Ryder (Mackenzie)

Ryder, Florence Gill
nee July 31, 1906

On Wednesday February 29th, in her 106th year, Florence Gill Mackenzie Ryder, predeceased by her husband, John Hubbell Ryder (Jack). Loving mother of Janet, Tom, Alick and their spouses, Douglas, Barbara and Leslie. Grandmother to Martha (William), Ian (Janine), Alick(Anne) Watson; John, Bruce (Annie), Hugh (Michelle), and Tim (Jenny); Jennifer, Andrea (Edouard), and Phoebe (Amos). Proud Great Grandmother to 21.

A warm and incredibly strong head of the family who always saw the best and provided wise advice. We take comfort and pride in characteristics of hers which we saw during every stage of her life: Her courage, her charm, her grace and intelligence. She met life straight on and always counted her blessings. She loved and was so proud of her immediate family and her extended family at Lakefield College School, her summers on Stony Lake and her passion for sports - especially hockey and the Leafs. She had a full life and few can claim better.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 10:00 am at Lakefield College School Chapel with a reception following at the "Head's House". Many thanks to her caregivers, Madrina Brown and Illet Turgeon and the nursing staff on the 8th floor at Toronto Western Hospital.
